This policy is part of the Terms of Service. Capitalised terms have the meaning given there. It applies to the Customer, to the members and tools the Customer authorises, and to the Viewers of the Customer’s Apps.

1. Prohibited content

You may not publish or transmit through the Service content that:

  • infringes the copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, privacy, or other rights of a third party;
  • is unlawful in Finland, in the European Union, or in the country where you or your Viewers are located;
  • contains malware, spyware, or code designed to damage, intercept, or take control of systems or data;
  • is designed to phish, deceive, or harvest credentials or personal data from Viewers;
  • is child sexual abuse material, or promotes terrorism, violence, or hatred against a group of people;
  • consists of personal data that you have no lawful basis to process, including special categories of personal data under Article 9 of the GDPR, unless you have confirmed with us in writing that the Service is suitable for that data.

2. Prohibited activities

You may not:

  • use the Service to attack, probe, or overload any system, including the Service itself, other than security testing that we have approved in writing;
  • attempt to bypass or weaken the authentication that protects Apps, or share Viewer credentials or session tokens with people who are not entitled to access;
  • use the Service to send unsolicited messages, or to operate a public website that is open to anonymous visitors, unless we introduce a plan that expressly allows it;
  • resell or white label the Service, or operate it on behalf of third parties, unless your plan or a written agreement allows it;
  • publish content that impersonates BehindGate or a third party, or that uses our name or marks in a way that suggests endorsement;
  • interfere with the Service’s monitoring, rate limits, or security controls, or use automated means to create accounts or trials.

3. Fair use

Usage must stay within fair use. Fair use means usage consistent with the normal internal use of an organisation of your size, and in any case not materially above the typical usage of other customers on the same plan.

The following are outside fair use:

  • traffic or request volumes that are sustained at levels typical of a public website rather than a company internal site;
  • using an App as a file distribution or media streaming service, for example serving large downloads or video to many Viewers repeatedly;
  • storing or serving releases materially larger than the limits published in the documentation, or retaining a large number of old releases beyond what rollback needs;
  • automated or scripted access that generates request volumes far above what human Viewers would produce;
  • circumventing plan limits, for example by splitting a single application across several Apps, sites, or accounts.

4. What happens when limits are exceeded

If we believe that your use exceeds fair use, we will normally contact your account administrators with details of the usage and a proposed solution. The solution may be reducing usage, moving to a plan that fits, or agreeing a custom limit.

Where excessive use threatens the security, stability, or cost of the Service for other customers, we may throttle, rate limit, or suspend the affected Apps immediately and notify you afterwards. We will restore normal service once the cause is resolved.

Repeated or unresolved breaches of this policy are a material breach of the Terms and may lead to termination.

5. Reporting abuse

Report content or activity that you believe violates this policy to legal@behindgate.com. Report security vulnerabilities to security@behindgate.com. We will investigate reports and may remove content or suspend accounts as described in the Terms.
